OUR REGIONAL CHILD ONLINE PROTECTION PROGRAM
Teaching Caribbean Families How To Protect Themselves Online
We know how important it is to protect and educate young people on using the Internet and want to provide all of our users with a safe experience.
When it comes to family safety, we aim to:
-
Provide parents and teachers with tools to help them choose what content their children see online
-
Offer tips and advice to families about how to stay safe online
-
Work closely with organizations such as charities, others in our industry and government bodies dedicated to protecting young people.
As the Caribbean seeks to expand the internet to all corners of our region, it is critically important that it be done in a socially responsible manner. As we all know, the internet is a trove of opportunities, Positive and Negative, and as much as the positive significantly outweighs the negative, the negative demands significant attention. Words like, online sexual predators, cyber bullies, and cyber criminals become ever present in the category of internet negatives.
In response to these challenges, an increased emphasis on ensuring our youth, parents, guardians and teachers are safe online is now at an all time high. While cyber security is a shared responsibility of government, the private sector and individuals alike, we at the Caribbean Cyber Security Center have developed a proactive program. This approach is geared to create a national and regional approach to awareness that is culturally sensitive and specific to our Caribbean region.
We have developed an interactive and fun way to raising the awareness of our region one island at a time through our web portal www.thinkclicksurf.com.
Our program TH!NK,CL!CK, SURF! program will increase the understanding of cyber threats and empowering the Caribbean public to be safer and more secure online, with emphasis on our youth.
